Art Aquarium at Melbourne Aquarium

This past weekend, we were guests of the Melbourne Aquarium to get a preview look and try-out of their new ‘Art Aquarium’ exhibit for the summer.

This interactive experience, set up on a state-of-the-art screen, allows the young (and young at heart – see picture!) to create their own fish to then see projected onto a virtual aquarium and see swim around!

As you can see in my picture, I chose a shark, but there are a number of different species on offer to colour in. Riley’s first fish was a jellyfish and Keira’s was a tropical kind. It was exciting to see your picture get scanned into the computer to then get ‘dropped’ into the tank. Kids and adults – like me! – then followed them around, tracking their progress on the wall.

I really enjoyed the experience and think it’s a great addition to an already stellar day out. It’s nice to have a place where you can sit down and have a chance to create and ‘chill’ – sometimes big places like these can be draining for sensory sensitive, or just plain tired, people.

If you would like to experience the Art Aquarium during the school holidays then I have a family pass to giveaway. This pass is for 2 adults and 2 children and has a $96 value. For the winner, it will be a great day out during the school holidays – a long stretch of time in which to keep kids entertained! I can help you in this case! I’ll set the giveaway to close on Christmas Eve – so do get in quick!
